Today Grandpa and I drove out to the farm to see Carter and Collin. Carter is now a whole 25 days old. He seems to be a very mild mannered baby and quite content to watch his little world from grandma's lap.
Collin is just as busy as ever. He is a devoted Grandpa fan and hung pretty close to him throughout our visit. This Grandma just dosen't have what it takes to spark an all-boy enthusiast.

That's the Guy!
For those of you who have read the previous entry, there is a skip in information regarding "someone from Minot married to a famous guy." My sister-in-law Lila emailed me with the stunning information: BRUCE DERN. The minute I read it I had that "for-sure" feeling. Yes, it is Bruce Dern.
I looked him up in the various Google venues and he is still married to an Andrea Beckett. Since 1969 no less. Those North Dakota girls have staying power. (Who knows she could have been an air force kid!)
Bruce Dern is a great actor, remember I lumped him with James Caan and Alan Arkin. He is currently on BIG LOVE as Frank Harlow, an HBO series, which we don't get.
Good job Lila, who incidentally is soon to be on her way to California. I hope she spots a famous face or two!

North Dakota Connection
When Jeff Bridges took to the stage and accepted his Oscar, there was a little bit of North Dakota with him on stage. The ruggedly handsome actor is and has been married for over 35 years, to a girl (they are always referred to as "a girl" or "one of so and so's girls" or tagged by their last name: a Nelson girl) from North Dakota, Susan Geston. She was the daughter of Dr. Geston from West Fargo. He and Dr. Kulland had the West Fargo clinic. I was friends with Dr. Kulland's daughter so I think my connection was ever so close.
I did have a nice clip ready to "borrow" from the Fargo Forum but the time ran out and it now cost $2.95. I love you bloggers but come on, I have my limits. Susan's ( we sound so close! ) mother still lives in south Fargo. According to the article she turned him down three times and finally accepted on his fourth try. Mrs. Hanson -sorry no info as to why she isn't Mrs. Geston - is ever so proud of her son in law. She stated he calls every year on his wife's birthday and thanks her for giving him the love of his life.
Not only can the guy act, sing, he also has substance.
I have had a low key crush him since I saw him in the movie Texasville. A movie spin off of The Last Picture Show, another one of my faves. Now I have to see Crazy Heart, to keep the flame glowing.
North Dakota has a few famous in their own right:
Lawrence Welk - a one a and a two a
Josh Duhamel - now married to Fergie
Lynn Anderson - I Never Promised You a Rose Garden
Louis LaMoure
Bobby Vee
Angie Dickenson
Peggy Lee - Fever Fame
Louise Erdrich
Some spouses of the famous:
Mrs. Dick Clark
Mrs. Casey Kasem
And for this I apologize:
Someone from Minot is married to someone from the Hollywood scene - BUT I CAN"T REMEMBER WHO. Names like James Caan, Alan Arkin (whom I saw eating at the table next to us at the wonderful Bergoff in Chicago - my brother wasn't too sure, but I feel it was a confirmed siting.) pop into my head, but I don't have that for sure feeling.
Do we have any contributions to add to the North Dakota Connection list?
Addendum: Susan, (not Mrs. Bridges, my friend Susan) who always has been smarter than I, said I must add Charlie Korsmo ( I did think of him, but he sort of has faded) and Kristin Rudrud from the movie FARGO. I am now going to check the address she gave me of more people. Thanks Susan.
Website visit for Fargo and North Dakota:
Frank Scott - Lawrence Welk Fame
James Buchli - Astronaut
Carl Ben Eiselson
Jonny Lang - Musician
Roger Maris - baseball player
Eric Severeid - FROM VELVA, until he was 12. His cute house is one block over from ours and still in use.
Ann Southern - actress
Donny Schatz - Sprint Car driver
These two were friends of my Dad's:
Kurt Knutson - Broadway actor
Peter Schickele (a.k.a. PDQ Bach) Musician, he was born in Ames, Iowa but graduated from Fargo Central.
Any more????
